Prerequisites to enter retreat with us

In order to enter an individual retreat with us, kindly read the prerequisites:

You may enter a semi or full retreat. Full means that for the designated time, you may not leave your room. Semi means, you may take meditative strolls during the breaks, inbetween your meditation sessions.

Whatever the case, communication in the house is to be reduced to the absolute minimum, factual talking, whereas communication with the outwards is completely no option. We strongly discourage gossip.

For both kinds of retreat, you will require a letter from your Buddhist meditation teacher.

We also need to know if you request supervision by our Lama in place and what kind of support you envision. Further, if you received reading transmission, empowerment, explanatory teachings for the very practice you are about to embark on with us, and from whom you received them.

Kindly read Chöje Lama Palmos guidelines ahead of your intended retreat with us:

“Retreats are a conscious choice and timeout. They are timeouts from ego; habitual patterns and habituations – ignorance, ego pride, attachment, jealousy and aversion. We retreat intentionally and withdraw into seclusion from daily life, away from our familiar surroundings, in order to break through the outer into the inner world and to get to know the exalted realm of our own mind, the nature of our own mind; get aquainted, stabilise and further deepen it.

Therefore, our mindset and motivation with which we enter, abide in and conclude our retreat, are crucial and greatly influence our meditational experience.

Retreats entered for a designated time should be completed without interruption.

During the retreat, the basic rules and precepts of Buddhadharma apply. Nobody has access to individuals in retreat.”
